Building a home is quite an undertaking, whether you are having a custom home completely turn-keyed or you are thinking of doing some of it yourself. Finding the right information, guidance, plans, architects, materials and builders is critical to the success of your project and having a home you will be proud and pleased to own.
For the confident, daring and/or "I have plenty of time on my hands", you can attempt this all on your own. This would include activities such as wading through trade association web-sites for information (where they give you their self-serving prospective of information), scan through phone directories to decipher builders' ads, scour the internet, get referrals from various sources, interview builders, do your own back-ground checking (if you get this far), tour projects and in the end, pray you have made the right choice. In the greater DFW area, there are over 6100 registered builders to choose from. Talk about analysis paralysis!
